Get Creative on Valentine’s Day

Feb 13, 2015 | Personal Finance

Celebrating Valentine’s Day with your sweetie should be a memorable one. It doesn’t have to be super expensive–just creative. Here are a few ideas that are fun and won’t break the bank.

Ice Skating During the Day/ Homemade Dinner at Night

Go out and have a fun-filled day with your hunny ice-skating. If you have skates, pull them out from the attic and get your triple axel on. Or pretend like you don’t know what you’re doing just so you can snuggle up with your significant other. Yes, this is sage advice for both ladies and gentlemen!

Later–go home and whip out your best Bobby Flay/ Rachel Ray skills and show your valentine why they love you. There’s also no shame in ordering take-out and hiding the remnants, but you didn’t hear that from me. 🙂

Valentine’s Day of Service

Some people really love lavish gifts and grand expressions of love on Valentine’s Day. Others enjoy acts of service, like taking the car to get an oil change, or cleaning the house. Find a chore that your partner least enjoys and offer to do it for them, along with catering to their every need the entire day. Just try your best. S/he will appreciate the effort.

Love of the Arts

If you are an artsy couple, you won’t mind taking an art class together. Nothing spells romantic more than recreating that popular scene in Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. I mean…can we say swoon!

Another artsy idea would be to paint a simple canvas. As long as you are spending quality time together doing something you both love to do—that is what will make your day enjoyable.

Life can be so busy that we often find ourselves neglecting hobbies that bring joy and fulfillment. Catch up on your favorite pastime together or go on a movie binge–buy a matinee ticket, some popcorn, kick back and relax with your love.

While it is always nice to come up with fresh ideas to celebrate Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to show your S.O. love and appreciation every single day. That’s what matters most!
